Howdy,
So, I am back to school. Maybe back to sporadically updating this blog.
I am currently taking 4 courses (one of which is double credit and hours, so really its like 5 classes). Forensic Anthropology, Political Anthropology, First Nations Studies: relationships between indigenous and settler societies, and a Ethnography of Eastern Europe Class (with some focus on the effects of communism).
I also have 2 doula clients (volunteer) that are due during this term. Looking forward to it all!

I'm back... Or I will try!
So, school is over until a course starting the end of April. That really isn't so far away, but I should have more time. Right now I am working at the COCO Cafe on Sundays and Mondays, and working as a postpartum doula/household helper on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons. Life is still pretty busy, but it is a much more bearable kind of busy.
Today, I am making yogurt. With the tools consisting of a candy thermometer, a heating pad, milk, some bacterial cultures (bought from an organic market) and a nice big pot. The beginning process involved a lot of stirring, but I am now just waiting 3-4 more hours for it to turn into yogurt. At my last check it smelled yogurty, but it still looks pretty milky. Although I can't stir it now, so the bottom might be thickening.
I mostly used this website but I used a little info from this website too .
I plan on making a fruit compote of some sort using frozen fruit, that we can freeze in icecubes and melt for eating with the yogurt for some sweetness or whatever.
I was inspired to make yogurt partially because I accidentally made yogurt on the counter last year... I left half a mug of warm milk out overnight, and it was summer, so our kitchen was quite toasty. I didn't eat it, but it was definitely yogurt.
Really, milk is a whole lot cheaper than buying yogurt, and if I can keep it up there should be no need to buy it again!
I will add some photos later if my finished product is a success.

Cleaning
Today, James and I spent about5-6 hours cleaning, and throwing a coat of paint on the walls in a house his Dad owns. His much older brother will soon be moving from Vancouver to Nanaimo, and the house needed a great deal of tidying. James and I discovered that we actually have a fairly good time working together. While there were a few difficulties (as we do things very differently----Man brain versus the superior female brain).
While this is a short and slightly lame blog post, I thought I would at least update something, to keep myself in the habit.
